What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. It uses a timer to break work into focused intervals -- traditionally 25 minutes -- separated by short breaks. Each interval is called a "pomodoro" (Italian for tomato, after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer Cirillo used as a student).

How it works:

  1. Choose a task to work on
  2. Set the timer for 25 minutes
  3. Work on the task until the timer rings
  4. Take a 5-minute break
  5. Every 4 pomodoros, take a longer 15-30 minute break

This free Pomodoro timer supports multiple durations (5, 15, 25, and 50 minutes) and tracks your completed sessions. For a more powerful experience with task binding, streak tracking, and productivity analytics, try SettlTM.
