What is a Focus Pack?
Last updated: April 2026 | Published by IcyCastle Infotainment
A Focus Pack is an AI-generated prioritized daily plan. It scores every task in your backlog by priority, urgency, and your available capacity, then selects the optimal set of tasks for your day. Instead of spending time each morning deciding what to work on, a Focus Pack gives you a curated, capacity-aware plan in one click.
How a Focus Pack works
The Focus Pack algorithm evaluates every open task across your projects using a weighted scoring system. Each task receives a composite score based on three factors:
- Priority weight: Tasks marked as critical or high priority receive higher scores than medium or low priority tasks. This ensures your most important work surfaces first.
- Urgency weight: Overdue tasks score highest, followed by tasks due today, then tasks due within the next few days. Deadlines matter.
- Age weight: Tasks that have been sitting in your backlog longer get a modest boost, preventing them from being perpetually deferred.
After scoring, the algorithm performs a greedy selection: it picks the highest-scoring tasks that fit within your configured daily capacity (measured in minutes). Tasks with unresolved blockers are excluded. The result is a realistic daily plan -- typically three to eight tasks -- that respects both your priorities and your available time.
Benefits of using a Focus Pack
Eliminates decision fatigue
No more staring at a long task list wondering where to start. The Focus Pack decides for you based on objective criteria.
Prevents overcommitment
By fitting tasks to your actual capacity, you avoid planning 12 hours of work into a 6-hour day.
Surfaces forgotten tasks
The age factor ensures older tasks eventually rise in priority instead of collecting dust indefinitely.
Respects deadlines
Overdue and due-today tasks are always included, so nothing critical slips through.
Focus Pack vs manual daily planning
Manual daily planning typically involves reviewing your full task list, mentally weighing priorities, estimating durations, and assembling a plan. This process takes 10 to 30 minutes and is prone to cognitive biases -- people tend to overplan, pick easy tasks, or forget about tasks in other projects.
A Focus Pack automates this entire process. It considers every task across every project simultaneously, applies consistent scoring criteria, and respects your time constraints. The result is a more objective, comprehensive plan generated in seconds rather than minutes.
How SettlTM implements Focus Pack
SettlTM defines Focus Pack as a core feature of its agentic task managementplatform. When you click "Plan My Day," the system evaluates your entire task backlog, accounts for calendar-blocked time slots, and generates your Focus Pack. Each task in the pack shows its score breakdown so you understand why it was selected.
You can configure your daily capacity in minutes, and the Focus Pack respects that limit. If your calendar shows three hours of meetings, the system reduces your available capacity accordingly. The free tier includes one Focus Pack per week, while Plus users can generate unlimited packs daily.
